Pennsylvania

We had a great Memorial Day weekend. Ian and Whitney came to visit and we went touring. Our first stop was Philly. We enjoyed Philly Steak sandwiches, saw the Liberty bell, went into Independence Hall, and saw other sites the city has to offer.

Then we went West to Amish country. That was my favorite part. I wish we could have gone on a non-Sunday because not a lot was open, but the good part was lots of Amish were out visiting family and friends and lots of little kids were outside playing in their backyards. I would love to go back and get to know more about their religion and culture. It was really neat!
The Amish ride horse and buggies and they were all over the town. It was awesome seeing them drive around.

Then we went to Gettysburg and rode around the battle grounds and saw the grave sites. It was touching being able to be there, esp. on Memorial Day weekend.

We also went into Germantown, which is the outskirts of Philly- that was the roughest town I've ever been in. That evening we went to the Cheesecake Factory and then stayed in a Marriott in Philly Saturday night (Ian is the best when it comes to finding deals). That evening we enjoyed the hot tub and pool - at least Whitney and I did. On our way home the next day to NJ we drove through Hersey, PA. The lamp posts looked like Hersey Kisses and everything had to do with chocolate. Our next places to tour are New York City and Upstate New York along with Niagara Falls. We also plan to visit Ian and Whitney again in Boston where we will enjoy Kayaking and a drive up the coast to Maine. 6.5 more weeks until the baby comes- so we've got to fit it all in!
